Andrea Ray of Dining Room Experiments designs Upcycled gear for Slacker Inc.

Akron, Ohio., January 1, 2011— The New Year starts at Slacker Incorporated with an innovative idea; creatively re-purpose race used materials and parts to design a line of unique products into high quality functional lifestyle accessories for the racing enthusiast. That idea is one step closer to reality as Slacker Inc. collaborates with Dining Room Experiments owner, Andrea Ray.

The Upcycled gear will be designed and hand built using retired materials used during race weekends across the country in both professional and grassroots motorsports. Materials will include race harnesses, window nets, carbon fiber and race suits. The line will develop as the creative process takes shape from the drawing board to production, and ultimately to the customer.

Andrea Ray from Dining Room Experiments was excited about the challenge. “It’s a very progressive idea with real potential if done right” she comments. “I’m an supporter of taking something that might otherwise be discarded and building it into a fashion piece that’s original while keeping real world function”. “The materials have a lot of texture and construction is high quality from the start because of the nature of the sport so this is an interesting concept”.

Slacker Inc. will debut the Upcycled gear 2nd quarter with a new and updated website. Plans are already in the works of re-branding opportunities with race teams and corporate partners that are interested in the green initiative behind the idea.
